Why Not Help?

No club can exist without help from its members. We really do rely on parents and friends to do the work. The opportunities to help are endless! No matter how much or how little time you can spare, whether you can commit yourself to regular work or just occasionally, there is something appropriate for you. As swimmers reach 16 years or over, how about becoming a swimming teacher or coach? Or how about becoming a poolside official? We can also offer you training in both activities. Please let us know the sort of thing you would be interested in helping with. Tell any Club Committee member, teacher/coach or the Club Secretary

Join the Committee

We need a good mix of people, but above all those who are committed to working for the Club. The Committee meets nine times per year.

Organiser

There are lots of regular jobs that need to be done: social events, club championships, raffle organiser, publicity, gala refreshments, chaperones, etc.

Coach

This requires some regular commitment. We can teach you the job and you don’t have to know anything about swimming at first. All you need is a willingness to have a go, learn and enthusiasm. The ASA Assistant Teachers course is often the first course after a period of helping at poolside.

Official

All galas need officials: timekeepers, judges, recorders, referees, etc. There are courses run each year. “Shadowing” an official at a gala or time trial is a good way to get an insight into the roles.

Team Manager

We need people to manage our teams. Working with the coaches to select teams, post the team list and manage the team at galas.

Swim Shop

This is an important part of the Club where swimmers can purchase T Bags, Hoodies, Polo Tops and Hats. We can always use another pair of hands to help out
